The SATA Vanguard Committee is open to any SATA member in good standing within 5 years of completion of their training. Please contact the Committee Co-Chairs (information below) if you are interested in joining this committee.
Mission Statement: The primary mission of the SATA Vanguard Committee is to encourage the participation of early career Transplant Anesthesiologists within SATA and to provide adequate resources for professional development for the junior members of the society. The committee aims to provide opportunities for those at the beginning of their career to become involved in the transplant anesthesia community and to continue advancing our subspecialty field.
Activities:
- Vanguard Expert Lecture Series: Quarterly lecture series covering a variety of topics in both abdominal and cardiothoracic transplant.
- Professional Development Series: Coming soon! Series focusing on professional development of junior faculty members featuring mentorship, CV review, networking opportunities and leadership development.
- National Meeting Happy Hours: Scheduled casual events at national meetings for networking with other SATA members (ASA, IARS, SCA, ILTS).
Action Plan: We hope to continue to utilize the Expert Lecture Series to target both abdominal and cardiothoracic transplant topics of interest to SATA members. We are also hoping to start a professional development series to assist junior faculty with professional development, leadership, networking and mentorship opportunities. We are hoping to arrange happy hours at national meetings if COVID19 allows and feel this would be a good way to interact informally with SATA members.
Leadership Opportunities: The SATA Executive council sponsors a Leadership Intern position on the Vanguard committee. This unique position allows a committee member to assume a leadership role within SATA. Each intern will serve an active but mentored role on the committee and work alongside the Co-Chairs and Executive Council. Responsibilities will include arranging meetings, setting meeting agenda and communicating with the Executive council. If you are interested in a leadership intern position, please contact the co-chairs (information below).
Leadership Intern: Daniel Haines, MD (University of Louisville)
