Cardiothoracic Transplantation Educational Committee

SATA Cardiothoracic Transplantation Educational Committee Mission Statement and Message from the Chair

Dear SATA members,

Yong G. Peng, MD, PhD, FASE, FASA
Committee Co-Chair

The SATA Cardiothoracic Transplantation Educational Committee’s primary mission is to provide an educational forum that our society members can access through the web portal. The committee will develop and implement up-to-date, innovative, and quality educational information. This information will be disseminated to society members periodically. The rapid growth of thoracic solid organ transplantation has made the care of these patients ever-evolving and demanding. The anesthesiologist must face the challenges that thoracic organ transplantation presents and provide high-quality perioperative management to achieve transplantation success. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the transplant community has encountered unprecedented hurdles, and anesthesiologists have been called on to step into various roles to overcome these obstacles. Our committee’s mission is to submit quality educational materials to SATA members to advocate for our professional interests, professional development, and scholarly activity; promote active communication among members; and provide a cohesive platform for members to engage in academic discussion. We encourage all enthusiastic members to contribute their transplant anesthesiology experiences and success stories to advance our knowledge and skills in the field of transplantation anesthesiology.

T. Everett Jones, MD
Committee Co-Chair
Department of Anesthesiology, University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, FL
