SATA is an all-inclusive organization dedicated to advancing the specialty of transplant anesthesia. The Vanguard Committee is an integral component of SATA whose function is to promote the personal and professional development of trainees and junior faculty. The Vanguard Committee facilitates the participation of junior faculty and trainees both within and outside the organization through mentoring, leadership development and networking opportunities.
Vanguard Committee membership is open to any member in good standing who is within 5 years of completion of training.
Do you want to find out more how you can become a leadership intern?
The SATA Council encourages Vanguard members to apply for the leadership intern program. This unique Vanguard program allows society members who are within five years of completion of their training to assume a leadership role in SATA working assemblies. Working assemblies include committees, working groups and task forces.
Each intern serves in an active but mentored role in the leadership of a SATA working assembly. The intern serves with the Chair, Co-Chair and the assigned liaison of the Executive Council. This position is designed to give each Vanguard member an opportunity to rapidly gain leadership experience. Responsibilities of interns include arranging recurring meeting, setting a meeting agenda, assigning work tasks and communicating with the Executive Council. Authorship of all intellectual products of each working assembly will include the leadership intern.
The Chair of the Vanguard Committee appoints and assigns interns to working assemblies according to the applicant’s field of interest.
